positive bigotry

not many people like to talk about positive bigotry
they just say "BIGOTRY" in such a scathing disdain

it's not just contradiction
it's rotation over spheres of influence
thick in convenient conviction

until we break free,
set to spiral off some other idea
as bigots, as a mad species of freaks

too keen on saving grace
saving all sorts of things
for later

never trying, really,
never believing, ever,

faith is a faulty investment
what's there to believe in, absolutely?

i can't summon a divine mist to high five me
every time i'm tired or
every time i rescind to the darker realms
and somehow make a human
less than human

although i'd argue
it must be done
and tried until

we become someone else

i hear that talk all the time

the younger me talking to me now
disgusted, horrified, appalled--
and listen, i can explain,
all this means, me, all that means,

is i'm doing a good job
and i'm on my way to being everyone

so a bigot, to me,
is just a person ive yet to become
but will
and when i do
i'll see me

and i'll be horrified
