heaven crumbles

heaven crumbles,
angelic clouds smother
we, from earth,
as we try so hard to breathe
the realer air

heaven crumbles
like a fallen empire
succumb to the unavoidable
the unsaid demise

that two lovers know yet
strive to unknow, together

that heaven crumbles,
but this is the Lord's blessing
remnants baptised
of the memory of the
holy gaze shared

our unknowing selves
wielding all that is to
dissolve to dust to
form the phantom
ecstasies, wreckless
tragedies

as Beauty dares,
